The building at Kalpaka Boulevard 7 was designed by the legendary Latvian architect J. F. Baumanis. It is the central of a group of three buildings and consists of two parts – the historic Art Nouveau building, built between 1874 and 1879 and renovated in the early 21st century, and a new, modern building completed in 2004.
During the reconstruction process, the original building components and artistic decoration elements, such as fireplaces, stoves, magnificent ceiling decorations, interior objects and authentic staircase painting, were preserved and restored.
